On Monday, August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse will present one of nature's most wondrous spectacles in the sky -- a total eclipse of the Sun.  The Moon will completely block the Sun whose corona will shimmer in the darkened sky.

This rare celstial event will  be seen within the Path of Totality, from Oregon to South Carolina.  Cashiers is located in the heart of the path and at approximately 2:30 p.m. will experience complete darkness for about 2 and 1/2 minutes, one of the longest periods in the nation.  Special events are being planned to celebrate this once in a lifetime phenomenon.
