See the newly installed Cashiers welcome sign on Hwy 107 South at the High Hampton road frontage!
As of Friday, October 20, 2017 the second of four destination wayfinding signs was installed by AGM Signs (pictured below). The welcome signs are part of the Chamber's enhanced destination branding campaign to replace deteriorating Cashiers signage.
A third, doublesided Cashiers/Glenville sign, to be located at the corner of Laurel Knob Road and NC 107 North, on a site generously made possible by our friends at Mountaintop Golf & Lake Club, is in production and will be installed in the near future.
A big thank you to our donors to this, the Glenville and US 64 East signs: Hattler Properties, Hampton Inn & Suites, Zoller Hardware, Wade Hampton, Glenville Community Development Club, Curated Home/Global Craftsman, FireMoss Pottery, The Corner Toy Store, and Cashiers Carolina Connection. We will be soliciting additional donations in the future to cover the nearly $15K cost of this project.
CASHIERS SIGNS NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
In 2016 as part of an enhanced destination branding campaign, the Cashiers Area Chamber replaced the deteriorating “Cashiers” sign on Highway 64 West to welcome eastbound traffic with an updated design featuring a Whiteside Mountain icon.
Now efforts are underway to raise funds for additional “Cashiers” signs. “Providing effective destination and wayfinding signage supports a memorable and positive visitor experience,” explains Stephanie Edwards, chamber executive director.
Last year, the Jackson County Tourism Development Authority gave the Chamber a one-time $2,500 award toward the initial sign construction, which was to serve as a pilot project for other approaches which would be privately funded. The public as well as Chamber members are invited to donate to ensure project success. Personal and business contributions are welcomed and will be acknowledged in related promotions.
The 4x8 foot rough-hewn cedar structure, designed by Mountainworks Custom Home Design and manufactured by AGM Sign Company, features a profile of Whiteside Mountain and “Elev 3,484,” highlighting Cashiers’ popular, high elevation setting, and is capped with copper trim.
The Chamber’s other 2017 economic and community development priority initiatives include workforce development, housing, pedestrian mobility and safety and broadband connectivity. Our Core Purpose is “To provide extraordinary Leadership as an Advocate for business, Information Source for the Community and Conduit for building destination awareness and responsible growth.
