Solar eclipse glasses are available at the Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce located at 202 US Highway 64 West in Cashiers for a two dollar donation per pair. Other local businesses also have solar eclipse glasses available.

Cashiers and cities inside the 70-mile-wide path of the solar eclipse will experience the moon passing in front of the sun causing the sky to turn pitch black, the air to cool, and the stars to come out. This is the first time in 26 years that America has seen a total solar eclipse, and it is one of the few that will sweep the nation from Atlantic to Pacific coasts.
