September 2018 Updates: The Plan was completed by Jackson County consulting team Stewart Consulting and Friction Shift Projects and provides the Village of Cashiers with goals and strategies relevant to land use, transportation, utilities, natural resources, economic development including pedestrian safety, housing and other key area factors based on response and participation from the community. The Jackson County Planning Department hosted a three-day Small Area Plan Workshop in June of 2018 for Cashiers Area residents, business owners and stakeholders to provide input on key factors for future area planning and economic growth in the Cashiers Commercial District and surrounding area. The open-house style charrette, presentations and seminars were held at the Glenville-Cashiers Community Rec Center June 4-6 and provided generous opportunity for community members to share visions for progression. A small area plan survey for Cashiers community members provided additional opportunity for input.
