Support local business and sign the petition urging Jackson County Commissioners to pass legislation allowing the sale of alcohol starting at 10 a.m. on Sundays. Mark your calendars for Monday, April 16 when a public hearing will be held in Cashiers. Time and location to be determined.
On Monday, October 16, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners discussed a measure to allow restaurants and retailers in unincorporated areas of the county to serve alcohol at 10:00 a.m. instead of noon on Sundays.
This “Brunch Bill” directly impacts the guest experience of visitors to the Plateau as well as financially benefits our local food and beverage industry and creates hospitality jobs.
Highlands, Sylva, Brevard, Franklin, Hendersonville, Laurel Park, Waynesville, Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, Boone, Asheville and other popular tourist destinations have already adopted the ordinance and experienced favorable results.
The measure has been passed by 145 municipalities and counties across North Carolina and has been unanimously endorsed by the Cashiers Area Chamber Board of Directors and Jackson County Tourism Development Authority Board.
Our local restaurants and other businesses unequivocally support this action!
Please join us in urging the Commissioners to vote “YES” on this important opportunity to establish a level playing field with our incorporated neighbors. To do otherwise will disenfranchise businesses in the Cashiers Area and other unincorporated Jackson County locations and will send valuable tourist dollars and related taxes elsewhere.

Broadband Connectivity -- one of the Chamber’s strategic initiatives to promote growth and sustainability in the Cashiers Area – is critical to our community’s future success. Please take a few moments to fill out the broadband survey provided by The Southwestern Commission.
As the internet becomes more vital to everyday life in North Carolina, counties across our region have undertaken various efforts to address the problem. In an effort to help the region as a whole, the Southwestern Commission is running a three month survey to determine broadband access in our seven county region. The Southwestern Commission hopes to garner enough information from you to help us decide on the best way (or ways) to address the issues our communities face when it comers to having reliable access to broadband services. The survey should just take a few minutes of your time.
