Strategic Initiatives

To provide extraordinary Leadership in the Cashiers Area as an Advocate for business, Information Source for the community, and Conduit for building destination awareness and responsible growth, we embrace Core Values of Energy & Enthusiasm, Integrity, Leadership, Inclusivity, Hospitality, Preservation of Culture and Commitment to Membership. By promoting Chamber businesses and leading economic development initiatives throughout the year, the Chamber works to ensure commercial prosperity and high quality of life in our mountain communities.

Workforce Development

Workforce development, including housing, recruitment, training and retention, are key to promoting Chamber businesses and ensuring successful economic development. Through communications with area accommodations, clubs, retailers, restaurants, trades & services, educational institutions, and other industries, we promote Cashiers and surrounding communities as a prime workforce destination. Efforts include the implementation and maintenance of www.CashiersAreaJobs.com, organization of the annual Cashiers Area Job Fair, and ongoing outreach on social media, via banner display, press publications and email. We also work with stakeholders on increasing housing diversity, training programs and employment incentives.

Pedestrian Mobility & Safety

Pedestrian Mobility and Safety, including sidewalks, pathways, public awareness and fund-raising campaigns, are key to promoting Chamber businesses, leading economic development, and building destination awareness for Cashiers and surrounding communities. Chamber involvement includes funding advocacy at county and state levels to construct sidewalks along US Hwy 64 and NC Hwy 107 corridors, and a pedestrian public safety campaign. Through ongoing communications and partnerships with area stakeholders and officials, we work to promote projects such as construction of new sidewalks, The Village Ramble trail network and other pedestrian mobility expansion.

Broadband Connectivity

Broadband Connectivity for business, residential and communities is a key project the Chamber works to “move the needle” on. With our area’s unique geographic location and topography, service delivery is challenging but of growing economic importance. Chamber efforts include engagement with organizations such as the Southwestern Commission, Jackson County officials, corporate providers and area businesses, communities and residents looking to ensure prosperity and maintain a high quality of life in our mountain communities through connectivity.  Outreach to explore new technologies for affordable broadband access is ongoing.

Infrastructure

Infrastructure including the expansion of Sewer & Water Resources, Technology, and Transportation is the basis for a thriving community. These pillars provide a solid foundation for responsible growth in Cashiers, Glenville, Lake Toxaway, Sapphire and surrounding mountain areas. Our Chamber is committed to being a continuous advocate with local representatives and stakeholders, county officials, and at the state level to maintain and improve the area’s infrastructure for business prosperity, environmental protection and quality mountain living.

Community Engagement

We work to actively engage local community, businesses and stakeholders in all aspects of development through a vast communications network and via numerous means. We provide informational updates in print, on our website, via email, and on social media regarding Area Business Success, Community Meeting and Forum Opportunities, Chamber News and Events, and Public Service Announcements. Additional engagement occurs through the launch and maintenance of Leadership Cahsiers and www.LeadershipCashiers.org,  www.Cashiers411.com (a comprehensive online community calendar), launch and promotion of www.CashiersAreaJobs.com - (area jobs board), and construction and management of the Crossroads Community Banner display for local events.
