The 41st Annual Cashiers Christmas Parade marched the streets of Cashiers Village under brisk, sunny skies on Saturday, December 12th.

We appreciate those of you who were able to participate and thought you might enjoy a brief recap of the event and the announcement of award winners.

As you may know, Grand Marshals, Jackson County Christmas Tree Association, represented by Christy Johnson, Liane Sprouse and several family members in remembrance of local grower Henry Fowler, led the festivities in a vehicle adorned with holiday flair, compliments of Jeff Sikes at Global Reclamations. Terry Beye and Stephanie Edwards provided Commentary via a public address system  …. “for on-site spectators, audio listeners and viewers at home …” on SapphireValley.com. The video is now available to watch anytime on youtube.

Entries competed in nine categories for prizes and awards, including a gift certificate donated by Slab Town Pizza, Cashiers Christmas Star trophy, and commemorative awards. Community judges were:  Karen Sullivan, RE/Max Summit and the Rotary Club of Cashiers;  Ann Self, The Village Green; Justin Souma, Benjamin F. Edwards, Cashiers Area Chamber Board of Directors. The parade concluded at the Community Center, where non-profit Cashiers Cares served several hundred lunches to raise funds for local charities while Santa posed for photos with little ones.

The Christmas Star Trophy will be taken home by Summit Charter School for their overall creativity, appearance and originality.

This very special tradition continued with much enthusiasm, creativity and cheer this year. We thank our parade sponsor, Ken Fernandez of Old Cashiers Realty, community supporters and those that made the parade another great memory to cherish for all of us in Cashiers Valley.

Don't forget to mark your calendar for next year’s parade to be held as always on the second Saturday of December, 12/10/16. To view photos of the parade and to stay informed on the Cashiers area, be sure to visit and like the Chamber's Facebook page by clicking HERE.
