Nominations are now open for the 2017 Spirit of our Community Awards!
The extraordinary character of the Cashiers Area is reflected in the people who live, work and play in Cashiers, Glenville, Sapphire and Lake Toxaway.
“Volunteerism and civic leadership have greatly influenced the quality of life we enjoy here on the Plateau. These awards are an important opportunity to honor those individuals who have dedicated their efforts to ensuring our valued experience continues,” explained Stephanie Edwards, Executive Director.
In recognition of the commitment and contribution of outstanding individuals of our mountain communities, the Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for its 2016 Spirit of Our Community Awards.
CITIZEN OF THE YEAR - Presented to an individual who has significantly and positively impacted community development through vision, innovation and leadership
BUSINESSPERSON OF THE YEAR - Presented to a business representative who has leveraged commercial resources to support community initiatives in an extraordinary manner
EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR - Presented to a teacher or administrator who has uniquely promoted character development and motivation in youth as a foundation for future success
VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR - Presented to an individual who has generously given of their personal time, talent and/or financial support to improve the lives of those in our community
EVERGREEN AWARD – Presented to an individual, business or other organization whose work reflects respect of natural resources, the value of sustainability and the importance of maintaining an unparalleled quality of outdoor life for residents and visitors
The deadline for nominations for this special Spirit recognition is October 31st. Award winners will be selected by committee and announced at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting & Celebration to be held from 5:30 to 7:30 on Thursday, November 16th at The Orchard Restaurant’s Event Barn. Winners traditionally also are publicly applauded as they ride in the Cashiers Christmas Parade, scheduled this year for Saturday, December 9th.
