The Jackson County Planning Department finished up their Small Area Plan Workshop Wednesday, June 6. This study, facilitated by consulting team Stewart Consulting and Friction Shift Projects, was the first county-led and funded opportunity for input from Cashiers Area residents, business owners and stakeholders on key factors for future area planning and economic growth in the Cashiers Commercial Development Districts and surrounding area.

The open-house style charrette, presentations and seminars were held at the Glenville-Cashiers Community Rec Center June 4-6 and provided generous opportunity for community members to share visions for progression.

The Small Area Plan will provide the Village of Cashiers with goals and strategies relevant to land use, transportation, utilities, natural resources, economic development including pedestrian safety, housing, and other key area factors based on response and participation from the community.
