The 2018 Tour De Cashiers Mountain Cycling and 5K Run Experience will be held Saturday, September 15. The event, produced and directed by Peak Racing, is the Chamber's only fundraising event and we thank our generous community sponsors for their support of the Chamber's ongoing economic development efforts in Cashiers, Glenville, Sapphire and Lake Toxaway. With a history of more than two decades, the 26th Annual Tour de Cashiers Mountain Cycling Experience will be held on Saturday September 15, 2018 across the sky-high, scenic mountain byways of western North Carolina. This popular cycling event has shifted its traditional spring schedule to the fall to accommodate an expanded activities schedule and take advantage of autumn weather conditions. Added activities include 5K run, after-party for all participants and their families, and partnership with Baldaroo Music Festival benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of the Plateau.

Under the direction of Tony Hammett, USAT Certified Race Director and Coach of Peak Racing Events, Atlanta, Georgia, the event is expected to attract participants from across the southeast, many returning every year to ride the prestigious race.

“This is a beautiful area and we are thrilled to help grow the events for both the participants and Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce. We look forward to this exciting partnership,” said Hammett.

Tour de Cashiers cyclists will follow one of three routes of up to 100 miles across Jackson, Macon and Transylvania Counties. They will ride steep climbs and fast descents at 3,500 feet plus above sea level with more than 10,500 feet of elevation changes and cross through the mountain communities of Cashiers, Lake Toxaway, Sapphire, Glenville, Cullowhee, Highlands and more.

Proceeds from the Tour support local community and economic development through the Cashiers Area Chamber. “We’re delighted to partner with veteran producer Peak Racing Events who will lead the Tour into an exciting expansion phase,” said Stephanie Edwards on behalf of community host Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce.
