The 26th Annual Tour de Cashiers Mountain Cycling Experience hosted 224 cyclists for the traditional three routes of up to 100 miles across Jackson, Macon and Transylvania Counties and an additional 44 runners for the inaugural 5K run. Despite the impending weather, athletes enjoyed great weather and road conditions. This popular cycling event shifted its traditional spring schedule to the September date to take advantage of autumn weather conditions.

Under the direction of Tony Hammett, USAT Certified Race Director and Coach of Peak Racing Events, Atlanta, Georgia, the event attracted participants from across the southeast, many returning every year to ride the prestigious race. "Peak Racing is extremely thankful for the partnership with the Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce and surrounding mountain areas, the police officers, rescue and safety personnel, the sponsors, volunteers, and supporters who help make this successful weekend happen," said Tony. "Our team had a great time with the cyclists and runners over the weekend. We look forward to growing both the rides and run in 2019."

The event, held Saturday, September 15, is the Chamber's only fundraising event and we thank our generous community sponsors for their support of the Chamber's ongoing economic development efforts in Cashiers, Glenville, Sapphire and Lake Toxaway. Read more about our strategic initiatives here.
